You’re a dedicated difference-maker with a product or service to offer or an idea or cause to promote. However, all the self-promotion tricks and hacks suggested (and sold) by digital marketers and internet influencers are not drawing in the right people (maybe not attracting any people).
What to do?
If your work is not currently getting the traction and momentum necessary to speak for itself, let others speak about it for you.
Let’s talk about the value of collecting case studies and testimonials.
I sum it up in the post I broadcast across social media recently (see immediately below).
I also share my case study and testimonial templates if you want to swipe them to try, test, and tweak them yourself (scroll to the bottom of this post).
This Monday on Purpose post is the topic for today’s live Catalyst Club community call. Join the community and the conversations today with a free 7-day trial.
Here’s that social media post.
What’s It Like To Work With Me?
Nothing could be more tedious than answering that question myself.
I work with extraordinary difference-makers who make an impact in a fascinating variety of domains.
Let me introduce you to nine of my most recent clients:
Elizabeth Walker, podcast host, and event coordinator
Sandra Tjoa, Tai Chi & Qi Gong Instructor
Lindsay Christian, The Work (Katie Byron) Coach
Brie-Anna Willey, Business Transformation Consultant
Angel Cartagena, Relationship & Divorce Coach
Souha Ezzedeen, Way of Life Dog Trainer
Penny Harris, Coach to Nonprofit Fundraisers & CEOs
Nikki Lerner, Culture Coach
You can learn about their extraordinary work and hear what they say about working with me here.

Although I rarely share these case studies, they are often cited by new clients as a major factor in their decision to enroll in a coaching program with me.
Who have you worked with that will speak of the value of your work for you? Reach out to them and invite them to do a case study call!
My Template for Case Study Calls
Hey everyone, Scott here with another one of my rockstar clients, [CLIENT’S NAME HERE]. Thanks for coming on, [CLIENT’S NAME]! (Please DON’T mention any specific program name or price. We’ll talk about our coaching/client work together.)
Here are the questions.
• Tell us a little bit about yourself, your business, and what you do.
• What was your challenge before working together?
• Why did you choose to work with me specifically over any other coach?
• Was there anything in particular about working together that really helped you? Why was it so effective?
• What’s happened for you and your coaching business since we’ve been working together?
• How has your life changed since achieving this outcome?
• Where do you think you would be right now if you hadn’t trusted yourself and invested in yourself by working together?
• If anyone watching is unsure about booking a call with me to discuss coaching, what would you say to them?
The Email I send Clients for Testimonials
I’d appreciate a testimonial to share on my testimonial page.
The best testimonials speak to an insight, AHA, or transformation experienced as a result of Coaching. A video-based testimonial has the greatest impact, but a text-based one is great, too.
Here are templates you can use or tweak. Also, feel free to freestyle a testimonial.
How would you describe the Coaching to a friend?
What’s the biggest takeaway from your Coaching session(s)?
“I used to believe that I couldn’t __________, but after working with Scott, now I know that I can __________.”
Questions for Workshop Testimonials:
What made you decide to enroll in the coaching program/workshop?
How would you describe the coaching program/workshop to a friend?
What was your biggest takeaway from the coaching/ workshop?
How would you describe yourself before the coaching program/ workshop vs how you would describe yourself now?
What was your initial goal when you joined the coaching program/workshop, and how did that change or progress during the workshop?
How did the community help you throughout the coaching program/workshop?
In my experience, the very best testimionials and case studies are unsolicited and unscripted. If you use my templates, use them as a starting point, not a formula or blueprint.
I hope this is helpful/useful. Comment on this post if you have questions or reflections to share. It’s always great to hear from you.
