This week’s wisdom comes from a conversation with Seth Werkheiser, founder of the Social Media Escape Club. Tune into the entire conversation here.
[SETH] I would say, whether it's social media or an email newsletter, because there's so much like, "Well, how do I get started? How do I do this?" You know, the newsletter thing itself can be confusing. Do I use this do, I do that, use this service, that service?
My thing lately has been, like, well, there's... You're either gonna make dance videos on TikTok all the way to "Well, I'm not going to do anything. I'm paralyzed. I don't know. I'm not going to do anything."
There's a whole bunch of space in between there, though, and so my thinking has been like, what's in that space? There's got to be something that works for you, that feels good for you, that feels right, that lets you sleep at night, that doesn't feel like you're being a used car salesman, that doesn't feel like, "Oh I'm being too salesy."
There's so much space in there, and there's, I think that's true for anything that anyone's trying to do, sell, make, put out in the world, and it's just trying to find that.
And I find a lot of that, and this goes back, Scott, to what you offer with, you know, with your Substack and with your weekly calls, it's about getting together with people and just like talking about that stuff.
Like we could sit here, like, I could get off this call and think and think and think, "What's going to happen next?" But more often than not, doing any kind of 30-minute, 15-minute, whatever call with someone, even if it's not an expert, a social media coach, or an email marketing coach, even if it's just another artist that's also struggling with it, just talk to them about it.
Because you come up with so much more, at least knowing you're not alone in this, you're not struggling, you're not bad at it.
Like we're all learning, and I think so much of that is just part of the community and finding people that you can talk about that with, again, from real big coaches to people, you know, doing the same thing you're doing.
So I would encourage that. Find some people to talk to.
Seth just delivered an important insight about the value of cultivating community to help develop and deliver the difference only you can make.
Community can, indeed, make all the difference. Why not try out our weekly community calls?

If you're stuck and want my help, consider Catalyst. We’ll clarify the real challenge, create a plan to solve it, and reduce the time it would’ve taken to try to solve it on your own.
I'd encourage everyone to find a group of people where you can come together and bounce ideas around, and talk about struggles, puppies, art, iced coffee, and whatever else.
And I will recommend trying out Scott's Monday and Friday calls for a month, just to see what's possible!
